Mariel, I will certainly consider many others should I decide to do an addendum, though this project is now concluded.
Of course, there are certainly more mystics that have developed in the West than the 125 characters whom I have featured, but these are representative enough to provide a good foundation for anyone to pursue further investigations, should they be so inclined.
I am most grateful for all who have offered their support and enthusiasm for the project since its inception this past March, and I hope the blog itself will continue to provide useful research materials and inspiration for all who share an interest in this field!

This is much the best list of “Western mystics” to whom I can well relate, that I’ve come across anywhere. Thanks for such balance, range, openness and perception.
One area however is missing. Mystics associated with UFO phenomena. I’m thinking in particular of Billy Meier, though there are I think many others. If you’ve heard Meier is a fraud or whatever, just wade past that and find the stuff that goes deeper and answers the accusations.

I lately looked into Deunov and Aivanhov and was very upliftet by your nicely placed quotes – and thanks for that too! As mentioned above also the Kahns deserve a good place on your list, I think.
I also wonder if the Danish philosopher Martinus Thomsen – at http://www.martinus.dk – might have a place somewhere around here? Check him out – as he is in a class all by himself – and probably the best preserved secret in Denmark these days and years! ;O) (We also needed the French to discover Kierkegaard, so we’re really not so bright, as some of us – and Bernie too – sometimes thinks :O)
At the homepage of Martinus you’ll probably find some interesting spiritual stuff – and som nice illustrations with the unique symbols too. I might be able to help you to other materials translated into English, though I understand you have concluded the work?!? If you’re interested, send me a mail.

Hi Bob, It is very good work you do on this site, much appreciated, but I would like to know if you are going to upload a new section for new mystics as well. We deserve exposure. A new generation with fresh material is need as God’s work on His creation evolves to meet new times. We have also suffer and had our share on the path to no-self and it would be welcoming to see a new mystics and contemplatives column to see God’s might work active today.

Thank you for your time and generosity in putting this index together. One wonders if it’s all luck, meaning all these so-called mystics (including non-Western ones like Buddha and Jesus of Nazareth and Gandhi) were lucky to have taken their human forms endowed with the capacity to develop themselves to become who/what they were when they left this plane of existence. None of them were born mentally retarded or took on one of the forms of conjoined twins or arrived on this earth as one of the untouchables of their eras. Yet, none of these “mystics” questioned the absurdity of the mystery of the haves and the have-nots in all forms of earthly and cosmic appearances.

Actually, they may well have had the same questions you propose here. Furthermore, they were just the ones we have heard about. There may well have been mystics who did take those more challenging forms, but didn’t go out preaching and starting religious movements and so forth. Indeed, from a certain perspective, even taking human form might be considered an inferior birth compared to what is possible. Of course, from the limited perspective of the human persona’s intellect, we cannot really know these things.

It’s missing a 90 year old western mystic who you might not be familiar with but he’s crystal clear and has a very simple and relaxed way of communicating his understanding. Thanks, I am familiar with him, though I am trying to stick with those who are more western in their approach, rather than disciples of Hindu gurus. One exception is Robert Adams, but he developed prior to his association with Ramana.
